REDUCING THE JOB-RELATED STRESS AMONG NURSING OFFICERS IN A BASE HOSPITAL, SRI LANKA

Introduction: Stress is a one of risk factors affecting all health categories including nursing officers. Objective: To implement Mindfulness Base Reduction (MBSR) intervention for officers at base hospital Horana Sri Lanka. Methodology: Intervention study with randomizing two groups (i.e., control group and group) was conducted in hospital, Horana. A sample 96 randomized to groups. Prior randomization, baseline stress level assessed by Expanded Nursing Scale (ENSS). six-week mindfulness-based reduction package implemented group. Similar the assessment, effectiveness MBSR following implementation both Student t test used compare non-intervention Initially, 48 participants were selected each arm. Out remaining participants, 42 41 completed post successfully. Results: Several aspects improved intervention. As examples, perception due issues inpatient care procedure painful patient (p =001), The death whom you develop close relationship ( p<0.001)), Physician(s)not being present when patients dying p =0.001), watching suffer( <0.001), significantly Conclusion: Result shows benefits reduce among recommended other hospitals.
